Lighting designer/Operator, DREAMEDIA EVENTS in Darwin, NT

Dreamedia Events is the largest production company in the North of Australia.  We are currently located in Darwin and are seeking a Lighting operator to assist in this fast growing company.

The successful candidate must have a knowledge of event quoting and design. They must possess the combination of expert event production knowledge with a mastery of lighting design.
In addition, and equally important to the technical knowledge will be the candidate’s attitude, poise and personality. You will be directly interfacing with our high-end clients, venues and partners. In addition to being a team leader, not just operator, you must be quick on your feet, flexible, outstanding under pressure and able to deal with short term constraints. Your attitude, personality and interpersonal dynamics skills are paramount in this role.

Key responsibilities

•    Operating shows at all levels of complexities with outstanding delivery no matter how small the budget…there is always something we can do to make the show look better….
•    Set up and pack down of Lighting and some times other departments
•    Provision of leadership and supervision to crew and subcontractors throughout?installation, rehearsal, show and pack down
•    Ensure all equipment is cared for, maintained, checked and tested prior to going?out on an event.
•    Consultation with both DME client liaison and factory manager as to equipment?for show (e.g. substitutions)
•    Participation in the pre planning activities of shows
•    Completion of show reports
•    Creative ideas for all events with production manager
•    Assist in the client liaisons
•    Ensure that as a business we are focused on delivering the best quality product?with the budget the client has assigned.
•    increased revenues through the department and invest back into the department
•    Demonstrated working knowledge of lighting instruments and industry trends
•    Help develop new lines of revenue generating business in the lighting?department (will advise)
•    Basic experience in plotting
•    Proven understanding in current OHS legislation
•    Attends client meetings and site visits at local and regional properties.
•    Demonstrated technical experience in an arts organisation and working within a team to produce live performance activities including theatre, dance, music, launches, conferences, workshops, festivals.

Desirable Criteria

•    Statement of Attainment in Working at Heights
•    Statement of Attainment in Cords and Plugs
•    Statement of Attainment in PAT testing
•    Experience with EOS Lighting
•    Boards Riggers Ticket EWP license

Although initially we are looking for a ‘contract position’ that will fulfill the role, we are hoping to find a person that is interested in this role fulltime (running and growing the lighting department) eventually we would hope this position would be promoted within the Company.
Remuneration will be based on industry standards, skill experience and what you can bring to the team. Only candidates available in the time period of February of 2015 and August 2015 need apply. Immediate start.
