Sydney Theatre Company is seeking to increase its casual pool within the Lighting Department and welcome any expressions of interest.
Answering to the Head of Lighting, casual Lighting Technicians are rostered as required. You will be expected to work overtime when the productions necessitate it. Overtime will be calculated as per the terms and conditions of the Sydney Theatre Company Enterprise Agreement.
Work is primarily based at The Wharf, Sydney Theatre Company, with occasional shifts at various other locations including the Roslyn Packer Theatre and the Drama Theatre and the Sydney Opera House.
General Requirements
At least 4 years’ experience as a Theatrical Lighting Technician.
* Experience in installing lighting and other technical equipment for shows and events as required.
* Experience in the manufacturing and installation of specialised lighting and effects for productions
* Experience in various lighting desks, and preferably the ETC EOS Family.
* Experience in installation, use and repairs of LED fixtures and automated fixtures.
* High level of competency in all aspects of theatrical lighting and electronics for operation of theatre equipment.
* Ability to perform under pressure and to successfully interact with professional associates, staff and sponsors.
* Good communication skills and an ability to work within a diverse team in ever changing environments.
* Comfortable with working at heights and physically fit.
Workplace Health & Safety
For the purposes of the Workplace Health and Safety Act and Regulations, the Lighting Technicians must ensure that he/she:
* Takes reasonable care of the health and safety of themselves and others.
* Works in a safe manner and follows procedures introduced for his/her protection.
* Participates in any training or education necessary to enable him/her to work safely, including familiarisation with STC’s WH&S Policy.
* Reports any unsafe work practices or conditions to his/her supervisors.
* Co-operates with Sydney Theatre Company in their efforts to comply with occupational health and safety requirements.
* Regularly inspecting STC lighting equipment in order to ensure its safe working order, and, where reasonable, undertake basic repair and maintenance of equipment, or notify the relevant department supervisor when equipment requires additional or significant repair.
