Light Unite Happening on April 15th!!

The date is set for Wednesday, April 15th!

The time can be whenever you wish the evening for as long as you wish. It can be beams into the night sky, a building wash, projected gobos, media projection, lasers – whatever you wish! Upload your photos to Instagram with the hashtag #lightuniteaus and also send them to me at ALIA.

Background: On Sunday, March 22nd, in an act of solidarity with all the heroes fighting the COVID-19 global pandemic, AV rental companies across the Benelux region, including on Curaçao in the Dutch Antilles, lit up the nighttime sky in an initiative called #LightTheSky.  (http://www.alia.com.au/lightthesky-for-heroes-fighting-covid-19/)

After posting this story on ALIA, I immediately thought this was something we could do across the entire Australian nation. Not only will it be a mark of respect to all fighting the pandemic, it will also draw attention to the plight of the entertainment business in this dreadful time. So let’s band together and add some light and colour all over our vast country!

Yet again, when the country suffers we can act – even though we are the ones hurting.

I’ll be asking all distributors, manufacturers, production companies, venues, sole traders to join in.

I’ll aim to get as much media coverage as possible.

The interest is strong so please register your intent asap to cat@alia.com.au. The idea is to light up your own premises but several companies believe they can get permission to light up prominent buildings or landmarks. Whatever you decide to do, please ensure it meets current State and Federal restrictions. I’ll be regularly updating the table below so check back often.
