LD Systems has announced the new MON G3 Series, a third generation of active stage monitors that have been completely redesigned, both technically and visually, available in four models (8, 10, 12 and 15-inch options) that all incorporate integrated DSP functions and offer several connection options.
All models have a coaxial design with a newly developed combination of a woofer and titanium tweeter intended to supply consistent sound even away from the ideal listening axis as well as from a short distance. The integrated CD horn offers an optimized dispersion pattern of 50 (h) x 90 (v) degrees.
The onboard class D power amplifier is stated to supply 300 watts RMS and up to 1,200 watts peak. An integrated heat sink allows operation without and make the monitors suitable for noise-sensitive applications such as lectures, panel discussions and unplugged gigs.
The second-generation DynX DSP offers users a range of customization options via tools such as a three-band EQ, four EQ presets, a notch filter, and a delay function. On the connection side, there are PowerCon-compatible mains sockets (in/out), two line inputs with XLR jack combo socket, and two XLR Thru outputs for the loop connection of additional monitors.
All connections, controls and carrying handles are located on the sides of the enclosure, which not only facilitates access on stage but also protects against knocks and accidental adjustments due to the recessed arrangement. Protection is supplied by a robust polyurea coating and a sturdy grille. There’s also a 36 mm flange on the side for vertical use as a PA speaker on a stand, with a stand-alone full-range mode as a selectable DSP preset.
