PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Kinross Woolshed Hotel in Albury is a well-known hospitality venue renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and multi-purpose spaces. As part of a major refurbishment, the venue sought to modernise its audiovisual systems to deliver improved sound and visual experiences across all areas, while ensuring ease
of control for venue staff.
Amber Technology worked closely with installer Jeff Tickell and in-house Technical Sales and Support specialist Scott Riley to design and deliver a comprehensive AV solution that would elevate the venue’s operational efficiency and entertainment
capabilities.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The key requirements for the upgrade included:
Implementing independent audio zones across all key areas of the hotel, including:
o Multiple bar areas
o Function and private dining rooms
o Outdoor deck spaces
o A newly added bowling alley
o Supporting flexible playback and routing of Foxtel, Sky Racing, in-house background music, event/function audio, and paging.
o Introducing a centralised control system to provide staff with simple, intuitive control over all zones, audio sources, and volume levels.
o Ensuring all products selected aligned with the venue’s budget, functionality needs, and visual aesthetic.
SYSTEM DESIGN AND SOLUTION
Amber Technology’s Technical Sales and Support specialist, Scott Riley, developed a solution that met both the technical and commercial objectives of the project. By working closely with installer Jeff Tickell, the final design ensured high-performance audio distribution, consistent user experience, and future-ready scalability.
The system used a combination of high-quality commercial audio and control products from trusted Amber Technology brands. These were selected for their reliability, sound performance, and ease of integration in demanding hospitality environments.
BILL OF MATERIALS
The solution featured the following key components:
- LEA Professional Connect Series Amplifier
A Dante-enabled 4-channel amplifier providing robust, high-quality power for multiple speaker zones, capable of driving both low impedance and 70V/100V speaker lines. - JTS Wireless Microphone System
Includes the RU-8012DB dual-channel receiver and RU-850LTH handheld transmitters, with wideband directional antennas and signal boosters for extended coverage and paging functionality. - Australian Monitor Bluetooth Wall Panel
Provides simple Bluetooth audio input, allowing staff or visiting DJs to connect devices and stream content directly into selected zones. - Australian Monitor PS-S53T MKII Surface-Mount Speakers
Installed in black and white finishes throughout interior and exterior spaces, delivering consistent background music and announcements across the venue.
Sonance BSP Passive In-Ceiling Speakers
High-fidelity in-ceiling speakers for discrete zones, selected for their clean look and superior audio dispersion. Grilles were customised in black to match ceiling finishes. - Sonance PS-S83WT 8” Woofer Surface-Mount Speakers
Deployed in areas requiring fuller, more dynamic sound—such as the bowling alley and function spaces—offering an enhanced low-end response. - RTI Control System
Provided complete zone control, allowing staff to easily manage audio sources, volume, and zones via wall-mounted touchscreens and remote devices. - WyreStorm AV Distribution
Enabled seamless video and audio source switching across the venue, including Foxtel and Sky Racing channels, with responsive performance and reliable signal delivery
PROJECT OUTCOME
The completed AV system has completely transformed how the Kinross Woolshed Hotel manages its audio and visual content. The flexible multi-zone design supports a variety of use cases—from live sports and general dining to private events and corporate functions—ensuring an elevated experience for every guest.
The combination of professional-grade components, clear system design, and intuitive control gives staff full flexibility while maintaining simplicity and consistency throughout the venue. The solution not only meets the needs of today
but sets the hotel up for future growth and innovation in AV delivery.
