Sydney Theatre Company (STC) is pleased to announce that Jono Perry will be joining its senior management team in the role of Director, Technical and Production.

Perry has created and realised countless signature theatre, ballet and opera productions around the world with his experience spanning from theatre and major events to architectural lighting.

From early 2000 Perry spent eight years with Opera Australia’s lighting department working on over 40 operas including as Lighting Designer for The Gondoliers and Opera in the Domain. Perry was the Brisbane Festival Technical Director from 2008 to 2013 which included working as Technical Director of the world premiere of Freeze Frame by Debbie Allen, Production Manager of the massive Phillip Glass opera The Perfect American, and Producer of the iconic Sunsuper Riverfire event which attracted an audience of 470,000. He was Creative Director of Colour Me Brisbane for the G20 Cultural Celebrations in 2014, delivering a citywide lighting and projection extravaganza on 32 sites and buildings across Brisbane CBD.

STC Executive Director Patrick McIntyre said: “Jono has a great depth of experience in the Australian arts industry. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge in major arts organisations as well as in large scale event management and direction which will be a huge asset for us. We are delighted to be welcoming him aboard. ”

Jono Perry said: “I’m thrilled to be joining the Sydney Theatre Company as Director, Technical and Production. It is an honour to be a part of Australia’s premiere theatre company and I’m really looking forward to working with the fantastic team at STC.”

Perry replaces Simon Khamara, who was recently taken up his new role at the Royal Opera House, Convent Garden in London.
