Because of the long Covid-19 enforced break, Julius and Kate spent a lot of time pulling ENTECH apart and putting it back together again. “We had too much spare time,” Julius Grafton said. “And we wanted to come back in 2022 with all guns blazing. Fully arsed, not half-arsed!”
So they went back over all the surveys and feedback, to confirm their gut instincts. “We wanted to confirm why people come to ENTECH, aside from drinking Tony Davies’ beer,” commented Kate McKenzie. “Sure enough, there was the usual range of reasons; to network, to get a new gig, to see what’s new however when we did analysis the number one reason was to buy things”.
This leads to ENTECH MARKET where the 2022 show will have more focus on selling gear, with some exhibitors freighting sales stock to sell off the floor. This is possible by reworking the logistics that required fresh thinking time.
“Times have changed and a lot of dealers and shops are selling online,” continued Julius. “Previously, distributors tried to control territories but now it is open season. We would welcome some reputable online sellers as exhibitors, selling gear face to face, to build trust and relationships. Online stores waste a lot of money with Google and Facebook adverts. They could do a lot better simply coming on tour, meeting the trade, and selling some gear on the spot to help with the cost.”
With that, ENTECH is set to become a one-day sale destination in each city.
