Internal Communications Officer

About the Company

Jands Pty Ltd is one of Australia’s largest distributors and manufacturers of professional audio, lighting, and staging products, with an impressive portfolio of quality international and local brands.

The Role

To write and edit content for a variety of Jands communications channels that consistently informs, inspires and engages Jands’ internal stakeholders. Identify content opportunities and ensure communications are well planned and executed in a way that supports Jands’ strategic objectives and reflects our values. Own and manage the internal communications platforms including SharePoint Online.

As the Internal Communications Officer, you will be self-motivated and agile, undertaking communications and marketing duties along with assisting with the administrative needs of the marketing team.

You are a team player, creative, driven, enthusiastic with a collaborative and proactive mentality.

Responsibilities 

  • Identify, research and develop compelling stories for publication
  • Create ways to convey messages to update staff with important news and information
  • Write communications to cascade information from the Executive and Management across the organisation
  • Assist in the preparation of internal communications support materials and implementation of strategies, as well as supporting on external communications activities.
  • Manage the continuous improvement of our intranet and its content – proofing, editing and posting articles
  • Gauge reactions to internal communications, using feedback to recommend and implement new initiatives
  • Providing advice and support to staff regarding their internal updates and stories.
  • Supporting the management of internal events alongside the Marketing team
  • Encourage two-way and multi-way communication through, for example, surveys, internal campaigns and internal networking tools
  • Manage the compilation and distribution of internal staff newsletters, writing and editing content, arranging photography and videography and distribution via SharePoint Online

About You

  • Experience in writing internal communications and/or journalism
  • Experience implementing effective communication strategies and managing traditional and online communication channels
  • Excellent written, editing and verbal communication skills. Excellent attention to detail
  • Organised and methodical approach, with good project/change management skills
  • Experience using content management systems (SharePoint Online is preferable)
  • Experience in taking photos and videos
  • Drivers Licence
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required
  • Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Communications or Public Relations

The successful applicant will be a self-motivated and passionate communications professional, comfortable working within a team, and with management. Curious about all aspects of sales & marketing, you are organised with high attention to detail, a problem-solver and you bring a can-do attitude. Your strength lies in your ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to get things done.
