After having great success with the Chauvet Professional brand of fixtures in the past as well as recently upgrading his lighting inventory with Maverick MK2 Profiles and Rogue R2 Beams from Showtools International, Ian Garrard of Intense Lighting once again supplied a range of Chauvet Professional fixtures for two new shows: Ariodante at Waverly Church and Trevor Ashley is Mitzi Macintosh at the Seymour Centre.
The first show was The Apollo Opera Collective Presents George Frideric Handel’s Ariodante held at Mary Immaculate Church, Waverley. Intense Lighting provided a whole range of lighting including moving heads, ellispoidals and cyclorama wash lights. The lighting fixtures included:
12x Chauvet Rogue R2 Beams
18x Chauvet Ovation E-910FC
10x Chauvet Ovation C-640FC
The lighting designer for the show was Benjamin Brockman and he stated, “I was very impressed with was the internal frost which was unique element for the church. The brightness was also very impressive as the fixture boasts an intense 133,200 lux at 15 meters with its Osram Sirius 230 W HRI lamp. In addition, its 8-facet rotating prism provided me with an endless supply of creative and dynamic beam looks when needed.” In addition, The Ovation E-910FCs provided a smooth even field and a nice backdrop of colour in combination with the Ovation C-640FCs providing general colour saturation.
The second event was Sydney drag legend Mitzi Macintosh in his first ever one-woman show A Lifetime in Lipstick presented and directed by Trevor Ashley. Intense Lighting once again supplied some Chauvet Professional fixtures for the show including:
4x Maverick MK2 Profiles
12x Rogue R2 Beams
6x Ovation C-640FC’s.
Once again, Benjamin Brockman was the lighting designer for the show and commented on the power of the Maverick MK2 Profile, “The fixture was very punchy with its advanced 4-blade dual position rotating framing with a stunningly bright 440 W LED engine. That combined with the CMY + CTO colour mixing and the variable frost made the MK2 Profile one of the stars of the night.”
Both events were held successfully with both having lively and colourful atmospheres due to the implementation of the Chauvet Professional lighting fixtures thanks to Ian and his team at Intense Lighting.
