It was Saturday morning when lighting designer Pauly Owen received the call up after Chance the Rapper was no longer able to make it to Splendour In The Grass on Sunday night. The Splendour team asked Hilltop Hoods to step in and the group stole the show, closing the festival main stage with a monster set.
Pauly arrived with an Avolites Tiger Touch II in tow and pulled out all stops with the great Main Stage Festival design package provided. Pauly took full advantage of the onboard Avolites features, including the inbuilt capture visualiser and powerful effects engine that assisted greatly with such little time given to prepare for the event.
“The Tiger Touch was the perfect life saver,” explained Pauly. “What a curve ball, but what an opportunity. With the Tiger Touch, I was able to build a full show from scratch, onsite. I heavily utilised the pixel mapper and key framer, to great effect. Huge fan of these two Avo tricks. These capabilities really helped to produce a full show, rather than a festival rush job. The visualiser was probably the greatest feature, that helped no end. Huge thanks to everyone that helped make it a great show!”
Hilltop Hoods hit the road August/September nationally to play a brand new show touring with their latest album, The Great Expanse.
