Herkes Pro Lighting and Audio has successfully completed the theatre fit out of the newly rebuilt Bankstown Arts Centre with a mix of Selecon SPX, Rama and Acclaim fixtures. Also in the brief were Par 64 cans, the refurbishment of the Councils stock of Strand Prelude and Teatro units, and refurbishment of the resident Strand MX48 console and Jands GP dimmer racks. The lighting and stage batten rigging was renewed with custom circuit tubes and looming, new hanging pipes and custom girder clamps and chain from the buildings roofing structure.
New LSC Redback dimmers and a Maxim M console with more Acclaim Fresnels and Axial Profiles with a custom built portable circuited lighting bar system have been installed in the rehearsal room.
This large amount of new and carefully renovated lighting equipment was joined by a compact yet impressive sound system using JBL powered Eon Speakers and 518 subs, and a Soundcraft 24 ch console with DBX Graphics.
Talkback, Intercom and Paging is taken care of using products from Jands Ezicom, Altronics and JBL Control 25T’s.
An AV system using NEC 3250-g Projectors and a Screen Technics Chancellor 250 “ motorised screen completes the presentation requirements in this multi purpose space.
The venue was also dressed with opening front tabs and curtaining around the side walls for acoustic and aesthetic reasons.
The venue was still a construction site when the Herkes crew started, and time was a critical issue with all the trades working on top of each other trying to achieve completion dates. The Centre was opened by the then Premier Kristina Kenneally on 17th February.
