Head Theatre Technician

At Trinity College, our new Marnkutyi Parirna Theatre (Three Rivers) and Hewitson Theatre provide a leading performance arts hub in the northern suburbs of Adelaide. Our venues feature leading acoustic, lighting and staging technology, providing an exceptional audience experience.

We seek a highly energised and innovative Head Theatre Technician to support the operational management of our two performing arts facilities. Under the direction of the Performance Facilities Manager, leading a small team, this position will provide exceptional sound, lighting and audio-visual services to ensure optimum efficiency and success in presenting productions across our performance spaces.

As a qualified and experienced technician, we seek a professional who can work collaboratively within a dynamic environment and engage well in support of our Trinity staff and students, visiting artists, performers and companies, and external hirers.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Be qualified in audio-visual, screen and media, live production or technical services with experience delivering theatre technical support to a high standard.
  • Specialist experience in programming, lighting and sound design and the operation of lighting, sound and audio-visual technical systems
  • Demonstrate excellent technical skills in the safe operation of rigging, counterweight flying systems and hoists
  • Able to lead and engage positively with others when working in a creative, dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and communication outcomes
  • Confidence to establish positive relationships and interactions with young people
  • Current working with children check
  • Unrestricted driver’s license
  • Ability to work flexibly, outside of usual business hours, to fully support our artists and events.
