Gasworks Arts Park is a vibrant arts precinct producing a range of high-quality visual and performing arts programs, workshops and activities for all ages. Situated in Albert Park, Melbourne, on the site of the former South Melbourne Gas Plant, Gasworks is just three kilometres from the CBD and the precinct houses four hectares of park, two theatres, three gallery spaces, a café, as well as function and workshop spaces. Our event program encompasses over 250 theatre performances a year, 800 workshops and 30 exhibitions.
We have a strong commitment to equity and social justice, as evidenced by many programs over the years addressing issues connected to disability, poverty, mental illness, literacy, refugees and the LGBTQIA+ community. We run accessible Kids Holiday Programs, have a long-standing relationship with Midsumma Festival and Fringe Festival, host the sustainable outdoor sculptural exhibitions and support and develop new queer playwriting talent in QPAS.
Through our theatres and our resident studio artist program, we have been an incubator of artist careers across painting, ceramics, sculpture, dance, comedy, physical theatre and drama.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
An exciting opportunity exists for a skilled production technician to support new events and productions happening in our outdoor parklands, inside theatres, exhibition galleries and studios. The Head Technician will work closely with the Operations Manager to ensure all technical services (lighting, sound & AV) are delivered. As Gasworks embarks on our next phase of evolution and commence renovations to buildings and parklands, we are seeking someone enthusiastic to join the team and be part of the ride.
Our ideal applicant will have demonstrated knowledge of a wide range of technical equipment and its operation, and an understanding and knowledge of the diverse technical and production requirements of different art forms such as circus, theatre and dance.

This is a part-time position working 22.5 hours per week, plus up to 15.5 hours of technical operations shifts.
