Head Technician

Exciting opportunity to join one of Melbourne’s largest municipalities.

We are currently seeking a Full Time Permanent staff member to join our team based at our offices in St Albans.

The role

Reporting to the Venue Operations Senior Officer, we are seeking a Head Technician who can bring their skills and experience for:

  • Theatre / Entertainment Centre production including advanced staging, lighting, sound and A/V expertise
  • Supervising and mentoring a small team to service customer & staff requirements to deliver performances, events and functions
  • Supporting OHS / Risk Management in a Theatre context

To be considered you will have:

  • Local government experience is desirable
  • Extensive technical experience within a professional Performing Arts / Entertainment venue including advanced staging, lighting, sound and A/V expertise
  • Proven ability to plan and coordinate work to ensure deadlines are met
  • Demonstrated ability to train, lead and motivate team members
  • Knowledge and understanding of health and safety issues particularly in relation to Theatre and Entertainment spaces including experience in risk assessment of projects, activities and tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people to develop excellent working relationships delivering a high level of customer service
  • Have, or be willing to obtain, relevant certificates and licences required for the position
