Salary: $53,511.80 per annum + regular overtime & penalty rates as applicable

The Cairns Performing Arts Centre (CPAC) is a premier facility that brings the city to life and provides the people of Cairns with the finest performing arts experiences and a broad range of entertainment. Hosting an array of events and performances including plays, musical theatre, dance, comedy and contemporary and classical music performances, CPAC houses two venues, the main theatre with a seating capacity of 940 people and the studio with a seating capacity of 400.
We now have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Lighting & Systems Technician to join our team now! In this role you will liaise with clients to coordinate lighting & technical production requirements for all events across our Cultural Services Venues.
Key duties & responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee and lead all lighting and systems related activities.
- Develop and maintain a standard lighting rig for each venue for use by clients where required.
- Ensure that technical production requirements and associated documentation are developed and maintained to a high standard.
- Advise clients on the construction of theatrical sets and properties, particularly in relation to set electrics ensuring safety as required.
- Stage manage events as required.
To be considered for this role you must have:
- Current Queensland C Class Drivers Licence
- Extensive experience working at a multi stage arts centre or for a production or theatre company.
- A high level of operational competency in technical theatre, including, audio, systems and stage mechanics.
- A sound understanding of production requirements of the performing arts and entertainment industry and a demonstrated flair for creative production designs in lighting.
- A sound understanding of relevant workplace health and safety codes and standards related to the theatrical industry.
- Ability to interpret technical plans and designs.
- Demonstrated success in supervising theatrical operations and productions with the ability to oversee the total event.
