About the role
The Head of Lighting, Sound and Vision will establish safe and smooth operation of the Lighting, Sound and Vision Department through the installation, rehearsal, and performance periods for all productions across the company.
Key areas of focus
- This position will be required to liaise directly with Lighting, Sound and Vision supply companies and hired labour company.
- The Head of Lighting, Sound and Vision is responsible for the Deputy Heads of Lighting, Sound and Vision Systems Supervisor, and all casual / seasonal lighting, sound and vision staff.
- Development of the work schedule for lighting, sound, and vision staff.
- Leading the departments whilst interpreting directions and ideas from the lighting, vision, and sound designers.
- Relighting existing repertory productions and adapting original repertory productions onto a new digital lighting rig.
- Delivering procedures and practices to comply with safety requirements.
- Participating in event and venue documentation, including incident reporting and consumable requirements
Key Selection Criteria
- Tertiary Qualifications in Audio, Vision, or related field is preferred
- Demonstrated experience working as a Head of Department or equivalent for a minimum of two years
- Experience in relighting, adapting productions
- A flexible, quick organised manner and an inventive creative approach.
- Experience managing the lighting and sound requirements of a theatre or festival site
- Ability to lead a team of skilled operators in varied and diverse situations where it may not be part of your core skill base
- Practical knowledge on the operation of various lighting and sound desks
- Intermediate MS office skills including Excel, Photoshop, Outlook
