Head of Lighting

About SIX the Musical:
Following a successful premiere sold-out season at the Sydney Opera House in early 2020, SIX the Musical is planning a return to Australian stages in late 2021.

Position Details: Head of Lighting – Touring Crew position (a full-time weekly position)

As you will be required to work away from your usual place of residence in order to fulfil the terms of this contract the Travel Allowance provisions of the Live Performance Award 2020 shall apply.

Touring Season dates are currently proposed (subject to change) from December 2021 – February 2023

The position will commence in Sydney on or about 6 December 2021

The Head of Lighting is a key member of the SIX The Musical touring company and is responsible for the effective management of the lighting department & lighting team for the tour.

Key Responsibilities:
The position of Head of Lighting will have a broad range of responsibilities requiring you to render all services to the best of your skill and ability which are customarily carried out by a Head of Lighting of first-class theatrical stage productions to include but not be limited to:
· Effective management of the lighting team in liaison with Company Management.
· Supervision of all Electrical and Lighting aspects of the Production including lighting equipment prep, venue transfers, maintenance, rehearsals and performances of the production under the direction as required of the Technical Director, Associate Lighting Designer & Production Electrician.
· Operation of the lighting console for rehearsals & performances.
· Possible operation of a followspot. · Identifying and conducting lighting maintenance including documentation of lighting safety records to the highest professional standards.
· Working collaboratively and willingly in a small creative, onstage and backstage technical team that is “all hands on deck” to all tasks required regardless of department.
· Supervising others and undertaking work in a safe and professional manner, promoting safe work practices.
· Compliance with all company policies.
· Observation and compliance with all rules, regulations and policies of all Venues.
· Compliance with all orders and directives of any government or governmental authority or department and all laws that relate to or affect the preparation, rehearsal, performance and/or publicity of SIX THE MUSICAL.
· To comply with all government, venue and/or company orders, regulations and directives regarding COVID19 (applicable at any time) including but not limited to the wearing of certain specified PPE, securing of a health pass, mandatory double vaccination for all those eligible, compulsory mask-wearing, social distancing, quarantining, COVID-19 testing and use of government or venue QR codes and apps.

Selection Criteria:
· Experience in professional touring commercial productions highly desired.
· Previous experience in managing or supervising a team highly desired · Demonstrable experience with theatrical lighting systems.
· Lighting programming experience desired.
· Previous follow spot operation an advantage.
· Relevant tertiary skills desirable.

Must be Australian Citizen or Australian Resident or hold a current, appropriate working visa with the ability to work in both Australia & New Zealand.
