About the role:
Joining OA’s Technical division, this role will manage the operation of the Lighting Department through the installation, rehearsal, and performance periods for all productions across the Company.
You will mentor and guide the Deputy Heads of Lighting and all casual / seasonal lighting staff.
This role is a full-time, 2 year fixed-term contract. The pay is $136,278.99 per annum, plus superannuation. Opera Australia will aim to support all visa nomination requirements if you are applying from overseas.
Key areas of focus:
- Leading the objectives of the Lighting department with clear and frequent communication of what the vision of success will look like
- Bringing the vision of success to life by setting up complex lighting equipment and systems
- Overseeing a wide variety of operational needs such as staff roster, engage and direct contractors / hired labour and act as the main point of contact, OH&S compliance and reporting, and documentation of the event and venue
About you:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Head of Department role or similar
- Proven experience leading, managing, and understanding lighting requirements in a theatre or festival context
- Proven experience in adapting productions and re-lighting across venues
- Clear leadership skill; confident working within the wider team and independent work
- Have an understanding of WHS practices
