Head of Departments – Sound and Audio Visual, Staging and Lighting

$70,577 – $72,386 per annum

This recruitment process is for a pool.

We currently have three (3) fixed term vacancies for immediate filling until 30 April 2023.

About the Arts and Culture Trust

The Arts and Culture Trust (ACT) was established on 1 July 2022 when the Arts and Culture Trust Act 2021 was proclaimed, replacing the Perth Theatre Trust (PTT).

About the roles

The Head of Department roles are responsible for the delivery and management of their respective area’s requirements of productions staged at ACT venues and spaces.

Please see below and attached JDFs for role-specific requirements.

Head of Sound and Audio Visual 

  • Comprehensive understanding and significant experience planning and implementing end-to-end sound and audio-visual operations for live performance in a professional environment. 
  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of sound control desks and systems.   
  • Demonstrated CAD skills in Vectorworks or AutoCAD.  
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.  

Head of Staging 

  • Demonstrated comprehensive experience of working in?Staging?for live performances in a professional environment.? 
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of Health and Safety legislation?and procedures as related to the theatre industry.? 
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of?staging manual and automated fly systems.? 
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.  

Head of Lighting

  • Demonstrated comprehensive experience of working in lighting for live performance in a professional environment. 
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of theatrical lighting control systems. 
  • Proficient CAD skills with experience in Vectorworks and AutoCAD.  
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.  

Location
The roles are based at Perth metro venues and may be required to work at any of ACT’s metropolitan sites.

About you

We are seeking suitably experienced people to fill 3 full-time positions until 30 April 2023 with a possibility of extension.

As a Head of Department, you will be expected to:

  • Understand and communicate reasons for decisions to others. Particularly strategic objectives, trends and factors that may influence work plans and goals.
  • Evaluate project performance, while identifying the need for change and initiates it when required.
  • Build and maintain client relationships with stakeholders, team members, other teams, colleagues and clients.
  • Maintains a positive outlook and maintains a balanced working environment.

Eligibility to Apply

Pool Recruitment
This pool will be open for a period of months from the day after the first appointment is made. Noting there may be subsequent pool vacancies advertised within this period. 

Fixed-term appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.

Applicants found suitable in this pool, may be considered for subsequent, similar vacancies with the Arts Culture Trust for the duration of the pool.
