Harman announced that it plans to relocate the Martin Professional lighting facility in Frederikshavn, Denmark to Hungary. Martin Headquarters will remain in Aarhus, Denmark, and will become Harman’s global Center of Competence. The UK Martin smoke machine factory will remain unaffected as well.
In an effort to consolidate its European manufacturing operations across four divisions, Harman intends to move to Hungary, where it has had more than 20 years of manufacturing experience and grown to more than 2,200 employees. Harman expects a staff of about 400 employees at the new facility after the completion of the relocation.
Martin Professional has begun negotiations with the Workers Council and the local labor Market Committee has been informed of the relocation. In the meantime, Harman expects the Frederikshavn facility to run at full capacity for the next six months. A final decision on the relocation should be made before the end of August.
