You’re invited to meet the creative and technical team working behind the curtain on Australia’s leading musical Spectacular, Moulin Rouge! The Musical. Attendees will gain an understanding of the various technical
theatrical positions available within the performing arts industry and the calibre of work undertaken backstage to create a world class Tony Award winning production.
Australian live entertainment company Global Creatures, producer of the 10 Tony Awards winning musical Moulin Rouge! The Musical is opening its doors for an event for students from Year 10 and above, University and
College students, as well as people with transferable skills. Although the event is tailored towards those looking to work in the industry, anyone interested in attending is welcome to register for tickets.
In a Brisbane exclusive, host Simon Burke will be joined by special guest co host, Catherine Martin, a four time Oscar winning Production Designer, Costume Designer and Producer who conceptualised and designed the original costumes and set for the feature film Moulin Rouge!, directed by Baz Luhrmann. Catherine won two Academy Awards for Moulin Rouge! in 2002 and another two for The Great Gatsby in 2014 both directed by her husband Baz Luhrmann.
She is the most awarded Australian in the history of the American Motion Picture Arts & Sciences’ Academy Awards.

About The Event
Opening with a short performance from the show, Get Technical! shines the spotlight on stage management, lighting, scenery mechanics/automation and sound departments. It will include a focus on sets and costume design, and introductions to the props, wigs, hair and make up departments co hosted by Catherine Martin.
Hear from practitioners in each of these areas who will discuss their role within the production and their career pathway.
The event will conclude with a unique opportunity for students to participate in a Q&A with Ms Martin, Mr Burke and a representative from each technical department.
Plus, there will be prizes to be won, including tickets to the show and more.
