About the role
Geelong Arts Centre Technicians contribute to the smooth delivery of high-quality technical production services across all of our venue and performance spaces.
This role performs the duties of a theatre technician, ensuring smooth operation and maintenance of equipment within our staging department.
Essential qualifications and experience
For appointment at Technician Level 1:
- Foundation-level knowledge and skills in one or more areas of sound, audio visual, lighting and/or staging – either in the performing arts industry or related industry.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, influencing and maintaining professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills to communicate and liaise with hirers, performers and contractors who may not have a technical background.
- Understanding of health and safety requirements in a theatre/performing arts or similar environment.
- The ability to work under pressure, to prioritise work and resolve problems quickly and efficiently.
For appointment at Technician Level 2:
- At least two years’ practical base of performing arts experience in a specialised field of either: sound, audio visual, lighting and/or staging.
Desirable qualifications and experience
- A relevant trade qualification, Diploma or higher at a recognised institution or equivalent experience working within the performing arts industry.
- Experience working autonomously to accurately set up and operate equipment, without supervision.
