Gallery & Theatre Technician

About the Opportunity
This exciting role within the Technical Services Team at Mildura Arts Centre offers hands-on involvement in the day-to-day technical operations across the Theatre, Gallery, and Rio Vista Historic House. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the delivery of technical services such as theatre lighting, sound, and production
  • Supporting exhibition installation and deinstallation
  • Handling artworks to museum and gallery standards
  • Maintaining technical equipment.

What you will bring
Ideally the successful applicant will have the following:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in the installation and de-installation of exhibitions to gallery and/or museum standards and practices including object care and handling, packing and movement of artworks, appropriate display techniques and conservation principles is preferred.
  • Demonstrated practical experience in construction, fabrication and painting of exhibition assets, and appropriate work methods for utilizing necessary power tools.
  • Experience in installation and operation of audio-visual equipment and lighting and sound systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with theatre lighting, theatre rigging, theatre staging practices and theatre fly systems.
  • First Aid, Elevated Work Platform, Working at Heights, Electrical Safety Test and Tagging and Occupational Health and Safety qualifications relevant to the position are preferred.
  • Hold a current satisfactory police check or be willing to obtain.
  • Hold a current Working with Children’s Check or be willing to obtain.
  • Current Driver’s Licence.


Salary and conditions

The position is classified within Band 4 of Council’s Current Enterprise Agreement ranging from $35.73 to 38.21 per hour plus statutory superannuation.
