Innovative Production Services has announced the sale of its groundbreaking 4K ONE Outside Broadcast (OB) Truck and associated broadcast equipment to Rainmaker, a division of Sports Entertainment Network (SEN), marking a transformative moment for the Australian live production and broadcast industry.
With over 30 years of experience delivering world-class production services, Innovative took a bold step in recent years by designing and building Australia’s first fully integrated 4K OB Truck. The project, led by one of Innovative’s Directors, Jeremy Koch, was a labour of love and a testament to the company’s commitment to innovation and excellence.
“We’ve done some amazing things over the years—huge events, cutting-edge systems, and we even thrived through the challenges of COVID by building a studio and this incredible truck 4K ONE,” said Brendan Sadgrove, Director of Innovative Production Services. “Jeremy put his blood, sweat, and tears into this build. It’s been an incredible journey, and we’re immensely proud of what we’ve achieved.”
Despite the truck’s success and unmatched capabilities, both Brendan and Jeremy acknowledged that the company was not in a position to realise its potential fully. “The broadcast world is challenging, and we wanted to see the truck flourish in the hands of someone who could take it to the next level. SEN is the perfect partner to do just that.”
As part of the deal, Jeremy will join SEN in Melbourne as a broadcast engineer, ensuring continuity and expertise as 4K ONE enters its next chapter.
Brendan added, “It’s a bittersweet moment, but we’re excited to see the truck do incredible things with SEN. They are a fantastic company with amazing clients, and we know it’s in the right hands.”
Innovative Production Services will continue to operate in a more boutique capacity. Brendan will continue to manage the Sydney Opera House contract, and the company will retain key equipment and maintain long-standing relationships with clients such as the Sydney Opera House, TEDx Sydney, the Sydney Writers’ Festival, and the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
“We’re not closing the book – just starting a new chapter,” Jeremy said. “We’re putting Innovative on ice for now, shifting gears after 30 years. But we’ll still be around, doing what we love, just in a more focused way.”
Brendan and Jeremy extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff, crew, and clients who have supported Innovative over the decades. “It’s been a ride. Thank you to everyone who helped us get here and joined us on the journey thus far.”
