Forge Theatre Technician Casual

$45.57 per hour (incl loadings) + super

The Opportunity

As a Forge Theatre Technician, you will

  • Become familiar with the equipment layout, so you can provide high quality technical services for clients.
  • Participate in providing efficient and safe event delivery, from the bump in through to bump out.
  • Read and follow plans to set up technical equipment according to directions to ensure that precise configuration requirements are met.
  • Deliver pre-production, rigging, rehearsal, performance and de-rigging of shows and events in line with presenters’ requirements, interpreting creative ideas into workable solutions whilst maintaining artistic integrity.
  • Participate in maintenance, cleaning and preparation of venue equipment, reporting on faults to ensure repairs/replacement occur.


Knowledge of safe manual handling is required for this role, as you will be unloading, lifting and carrying equipment

This is a casual opportunity based in Bairnsdale.

Things You’re Proud Of (Key Selection Criteria)

  • Qualifications in and/or demonstrated knowledge and experience in the rigging and operation of sound, lighting, audiovisual and mechanical systems.
  • The ability to set up and manually handle equipment, including working at heights, in confined spaces and with restricted lighting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and to tight schedules.
  • Demonstrated ability to both follow direction, and use initiative, and an understanding of when it is appropriate to follow or lead.
  • Ability to work as a team and take direction in a theatre environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve technical issues.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with The Forge Theatre users and the Forge Theatre team.
  • A current, valid Victorian Driver’s licence, and current Victorian Employee Working with Children Check


If successful, you will need to undertake a police check. You must also be legally entitled to work in Australia.
