Field Service Technician

Join HME, a leading supplier of AV and Staging solutions to Australia’s entertainment industry.

  • This role will include extensive travel

HME Services Pty Ltd is an industry leader in providing engineered solutions to the entertainment world. Our “one-stop-shop” business philosophy means we work on some of the most interesting and prestigious projects in Australia. We are looking to grow our Service team with experienced Field Technicians.

Whilst the main focus of the role is inspection and servicing of the mechanical components of staging equipment, you must be willing to multitask and be proactive in approaching the various tasks at hand.

Typical responsibilities include;

  • Maintenance inspections of staging equipment in the performance spaces of theatres, schools, television studios and similar venues at various sites nationally.
  • Assist with testing and servicing of equipment and fixtures such as motors, winches, lifts, hoists, and control systems.
  • Inspect wiring and fixtures for compliance and associated documentation.
  • Diagnose errors and/or technical problems to assist in determining suitable solutions.
  • Provide timely and detailed service reports.
  • Availability to perform emergency service and maintenance works as required by an ‘on-call’ roster.

To be successful for this role, ideally, applicants should demonstrate:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the operation of staging equipment.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role, or hands-on industry experience.
  • A practical approach to problem solving and fault finding.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to follow instructions and respond to management directions.
  • Punctuality, reliability, and ability to complete tasks in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Strong knowledge and willingness to follow work health and safety practices.

The applicant’s preferred certifications are a General Induction Card (White Card), Working with Children Check, EWP Licence and Basic Rigging ticket.

An attitude that demonstrates pride in your work and commercial awareness is essential. You will also be able to diversify your skills to assist the greater team.
