Ray Eberle, Managing Director of Fat Sound was recently searching the market for some hybrid moving heads to add to his ever-growing inventory. After doing some research which included seeing the respect a certain fixture had internationally touring with major acts, Ray decided to acquire the CHAUVET Professional Maverick MK1 Hybrid from Showtools International.
He put them straight into action for the Milton Ulladulla Entertainers, which was for a two week run of shows, and played to a full house every night. Ray placed four Maverick MK1 Hybrid fixtures, positioned one apiece on vertical truss structures around the room and stage, for long throw spot and beam effects. “The lights spoke for themselves once put into action – the audience was gobsmacked, to say the least!” stated Ray.
Ray was mostly blown away with the output of the Hybrids, “The hybrid’s output is outstanding. With its 440 W Osram Sirius reflector lamp and advanced optics, the hybrid ticked all the necessary requirements I needed in a moving head.”
In addition, the colour performance was also a highlight, “The hybrid comes with a robust CMY colour system that allows us a nice variation of colour options and looks. The fixture is a fully featured high powered spot/beam combination and is a true hybrid, so it really gives us three fixtures in one,” Ray said. “We used it as a spot, a beam and wash. Things like the overlapping prisms and the gobos give us the ability to create a lot of different looks
and a zoom angle of 3 to 18 degrees and 19 to 41 degrees in wash mode. This enables me to have multiple coverage options.”
Because of the success of the Maverick Hybrid thus far, Ray has since ordered another 4 of the Maverick MK1 Hybrids to their inventory. “The Maverick MK1 Hybrid is a really impressive fixture that I cannot wait to put into action for more events that will help me create some sizzling looks and effects.”
