Events & Production Technician

Contract for 2024, working 18 hours per week, 40 weeks per annum

Wesley College is a Uniting Church day and boarding school, celebrating our Centenary in 2023. We are seeking people who can uphold our values through demonstrating personal responsibility, respect for self and others while embracing diversity.  Our commitment to equity and inclusion across race, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation, identity and experience drives us forward every day.

An opportunity exists for a suitably qualified person to join Wesley College as a part-time Events & Production Technician.  This role is critical to the smooth functioning of our busy campus, with safe, high quality technical services required for the School’s programme of productions and performances in music and drama as well as in a wide range of other activities, exhibitions, assemblies and school community events.

The Events & Production Technician will work in a small team alongside the Events, Production & AV Specialist, utilising their expertise in lighting and sound systems, control systems and relevant equipment to deliver a high quality service. You will be enthusiastic, collaborative and resourceful, with flexibility in working hours required to cover evening and weekend work as required by the events schedule.

To be successful, you will have gained experience in a similar role, with high-level knowledge of analogue and digital audio mixing and sound design, in addition to experience with stage lighting and projection equipment operation. Your skills should extend across a range of audio-visual and ICT equipment, together with a working knowledge of video camera operation, vision mixing, recording and streaming of live events.

You should have a calm, organised and practical approach, with the ability to provide and deliver expert assistance to staff, students and external parties. You will be able to work autonomously and as a member of a small team, and demonstrate your own initiative to respond flexibly to meet the needs of your customers.

In addition to a vibrant and caring community as your work environment, we offer attractive employment benefits.

Your application should consist of a covering letter and a current resume, including at least two referees who can comment on your work performance. Applications close on Wednesday 6 Dec 2023.
