Events Manager – Technical

Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) is one of Australia’s leading centres for live performance. Welcoming over 1.5 million visitors to more than 1200 performances each year, we embrace the best in live performance – the world renowned alongside the emerging, local, and new – and connect to the stories and ideas at the heart of each production. Through the warmth and expertise of our staff, we have become a trusted curator, presenter, and host; a place to come together to relax, reflect, share stories, and celebrate.

An exceptional opportunity currently exists for a highly motivated individual to join QPAC in the full-time two-year term position of Events Manager (Technical).

Reporting to the Manager – Production Services, the main focus of this role is establishing and maintaining a single ‘point of contact’ to venue hirers and providing exceptional customer service for the management and delivery of events.

Key functions of the position also include communicating with hirers to negotiate production budgets and resources for events and liaising closely with all QPAC departments to maximise venue hiring opportunities.

We are seeking to appoint a customer-service oriented individual, with suitable entertainment industry experience and demonstrated event management skills and the ability to prepare schedules, estimates and reports.  Additional key criteria include demonstrated ability to plan and schedule resources, excellent communication and negotiation skills and the ability to interpret technical requirements, designs and specifications for productions and provide advice on the most cost-efficient methods to achieve outcomes.

Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers, experience in a multi-venue arts centre, touring and commercial theatre experience and/or experience or tertiary Production and Stage Management qualifications will be highly regarded.
