Event Technician / Leading Hand

About Festoon Lighting Perth:
Festoon Lighting Perth is the market leader in event lighting across Perth. Our work & client base is large and varied, we provide detailed lighting installs for Perth’s most prestigious wedding stylists through to large space activations in Perth hot spots for local councils.

Position Purpose:
This position is responsible for the efficient delivery, installation, operation and removal of event lighting and equipment required to run events of various sizes and complexities. The successful candidate will be required to set up, operate, maintain and repair equipment used in events as well as supervise and train the events & logistics crew. Would suit an AV Technician or Electrician.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and train the events & logistics crew
  • Oversee and assist with onsite event setups and pack downs
  • Work with Event Manager to roster staff and assist with event technical requirements
  • Ensure all event setups and pack downs are done safely in accordance with our policies
  • Drive vehicles supplied by FLP to and from events as required
  • Load and Unload equipment from vehicles
  • Ensure all FLP equipment is kept in good working order
  • Pre-event preparation of lighting equipment
  • Miscellaneous odd jobs at the warehouse e.g. painting, assembly etc.
  • Ensure the warehouse is kept neat and tidy at all times

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated competency in operating lighting equipment
  • Must be able to work Thursday – Monday with flexible hours required
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving with the ability to think on your feet
  • Ability to work independently and within a small team, with a willingness to assist across all areas of the business
  • Ability to multitask between a number of concurrent projects and work under pressure
  • Confidence liaising with suppliers including the confidence to make and receive phone calls
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop trust, maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to think outside the box and offer creative input
  • A passion for events & technology
  • Highly organised
  • Some domestic travel will be required within this role
  • Current driver’s license
  • Forklift license (or be able/willing to obtain)

Education and Experience:
Lighting/Audio Visual technician experience or Electrician qualification required.
