Just in time for the busy festival season, New Zealand’s Electro-Tech Services completed a massive upgrade of their inventory with the addition of 8 x Ayrton Diablo, 12 x Martin MAC Viper Performances, 24 x Claypaky HY B-EYE K25, 36 x ShowPRO Collider Bar FC Strobe and 36 x Collider FC Strobes.
“We had a busy summer concert season coming up followed by an equally as busy corporate winter season and we required an injection of new equipment,” commented Stephen Walker of ETS. “We needed fresh new gear that would offer flexibility and be a good workhorse for us – especially with the Ayrton Diablos which are a universal fixture being LED and having shutters. We can use them as a front wash for corporate events with their framing, afterward, when there’s a bit of a party we can swing them around and use them to light the dance floor They’re small, lightweight and use low power which is great.”
ETS already own Martin MAC Viper Profiles and as they were very satisfied with their performance, the guys didn’t hesitate to purchase their sibling MAC Viper Performance. Again, one of their main selling points is the shutter option with Stephen saying this makes them popular for theatre productions and large corporate events.
With the Claypaky HY B-EYE K25, Stephen admits he looked at some relatively comparable products but the HY B-EYE K25 offered more in the way of effects. He cites them as a good universal fixture drawing low power that acts as a great wash light whilst offering an amazing effects generator.
“Plus no one in New Zealand has them,” he added. “So added to all of our other gear, they will enable us to price international riders and compete in the rock’n’roll market. We also hire our gear to many other companies in New Zealand and I expect our new gear will be in demand.”
The Claypaky HY B-EYE K25s were incredible on the recent Greenstone Tour which was held in daylight. The front truss was simply Par Cans with the Claypaky HY B-EYE K25s bright enough to successfully act as eye-candy in the background whilst also delivering the necessary blue wash for the IMAG cameras.
ETS already owned quite a few ShowPRO Collider products and having a larger quantity of these fixtures enables them to fulfill the larger riders coming in so they added heaps of Strobes and Bar Strobes.
“They’re great as just a strobe or even an LED wash but the boys love playing with their pixel-mapping ability to create funky effects,” said Stephen.
