Australian lighting technology brand ENTTEC released the September 2021 update of its EMU lighting control software designed for musicians, DJs and live performers. This is the third significant release since the software made its debut in late 2020.
This release introduces new features, including native support for ENTTEC’s world-famous DMX USB devices as well as MIDI, allowing users to change between each bank and program live from a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) or any instrument. This is incredibly useful for any performer wanting to pre-program an audio set, then let EMU handle the lighting, even if they choose to loop sections of songs or change tempo mid-performance.
ENTTEC are also pleased to confirm that EMU will remain free to all users until the end of the year.
Product Manager Jack Tan remarked, “EMU’s goal is to become THE go-to lighting control software for musicians and performers to design lightshows and wow their audiences with very little effort and without having to wade through a steep learning curve first. We know precisely what our users require and refuse to compromise on quality or design flexibility.
This can be seen right across the software: from the analog fader-style fixture control page to the Crescit lighting fixture library with its automatic updates, meaning users no longer have to build complex fixture profiles themselves.
The September EMU update stays true to the plan by hugely increasing MIDI flexibility as well as enabling MacOS and Windows users to discover and update their ENTTEC DMX USB Pro devices directly within the application.
To allow as many users to experience EMU as possible, we’re continuing to keep it free to use until the beginning of next year when we intend to launch an accompanying hardware package and a subscription option to reduce the upfront cost for existing users”.
