Shout Out to Jordan’s Dedication: Honouring DQ’s Own
“The show must go on!”—a phrase widely attributed to the pioneering American showman P.T. Barnum in the mid-nineteenth century. It’s a phrase all of the dedicated people in the production industry live and breathe every day. At Design Quintessence (DQ), we understand this fact as much as anybody and do whatever it takes to ensure the show does, in fact, go on.
Sometimes, Murphy’s Law rears its head in the import and distribution game, and when it does, we always put contingencies in place to deal with it. A recent situation involving our valued client, Eleven Design, exemplifies our commitment. Eleven Design required 108 x F01 Radial Tubes for the White Night Ballarat event. The Global Truss factory managed to manufacture these in roughly 30 days, squeezing them into an existing container order.
Overcoming Unforeseen Obstacles
Despite the tight but achievable timeline for freight, complications arose. The container reached the wharf only to be bumped, taken off the ship, and allocated to a new sailing a week later. What was once a comfortable delivery window now looked perilously close to impossible.
In the face of this challenge, DQ’s dedication shone through. We maintained constant communication with our freight forwarder and ensured the container was picked up at the first opportunity. However, we didn’t leave anything to chance. Enter Jordan, a true embodiment of our core values.
Recognising the risk of being let down by a freight company, Jordan volunteered to personally drive from our Sydney warehouse to Melbourne to deliver the order himself. This act of dedication ensured that the show did, indeed, go on.
Jordan’s commitment goes beyond mere duty; it’s a testament to the spirit of DQ and our unwavering support for our clients. His voluntary drive to Melbourne highlights our core values—reliability, dedication, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. Thanks to Jordan’s exceptional effort, White Night Ballarat proceeded as planned, demonstrating that with DQ, the show always goes on. Here’s to many more shows that must—and will—go on!
