Electro-Voice has introduced the EVOLVE 70 and EVOLVE 90 column loudspeaker systems in response to customer interest in a larger platform, and they’re designed to deliver higher output alongside ease of use and portability with audience sizes of up to 500 people.
The EVOLVE 70 is stated to deliver a maximum SPL of 133 dB and the EVOLVE 90 offers 134 dB. The EVOLVE 70 features a 15-inch subwoofer which is stated to take low frequency-extension down to 35 Hz while the EVOLVE 90 offers an 18-inch subwoofer in its class in taking its low frequency extension down to 28 Hz.
Ease of use was one of the key considerations for the design team. The EVOLVE 70 and EVOLVE 90 both offer the EVOLVE 3-2-1 approach for assembly, where three pieces fit together in two clicks to form one system.
Available in black and white finishes, EVOLVE 70 and EVOLVE 90 share many of the same features. Both offer eight 4.7-icn neodymium drivers,120-degree horizontal consistent coverage via propriety waveguides, with array-formed asymmetrical 25-inch vertical coverage. The new additions include numerous connections for microphones, line level, bluetooth and digital signals, including XLR/TRS combo mic/line inputs, XLR and RCA line level inputs, and digital AES/EBU.
Both the EVOLVE 70 and EVOLVE 90 are also integrated into the recently updated QuickSmart Mobile App ecosystem, which allows the user to control it as part of a system with other Bluetooth-enabled EV portable loudspeakers.
An aluminum distance pole separates the tops from the subs, while the neodymium drivers and advanced materials help keep the weight low. Also included is carrying case for the array and distance pole combined with an available accessory transport dolly.
“The launch of the EVOLVE 70 and EVOLVE 90 will respond to the huge public demand we have seen for extended performance of a portable column speaker system,” says Andrew Cho, director, product management, Portable Sound at Electro-Voice.
“By offering both a 15-inch and the only 18-inch subwoofer in its class, we are raising the bar for power, performance, and portability,” adds Andy Grunloh, senior product manager, Portable Sound at Electro-Voice. “These flagship products will make EVOLVE the first-choice system for a whole new range of performances.”
EVOLVE 70 and EVOLVE 90 will begin shipping in summer 2025.
