EI Productions impress with GLP X4 Bar 20

When EI Productions noticed that the impression X4 Bar 20 fixtures from GLP was a constant on many tech riders, they came to Showtools International to upgrade their stock and acquire more of 20 Bars to add to their impressive inventory.

“We just can’t seem to have enough of the X4 Bar 20’s, so we had to buy more,” stated Neale Mace Managing Director at EI Productions. “With every tech having these on riders and with great success with the fixtures thus far, it was a no brainer to add more of these to our inventory.”

The impression X4 Bar 20 is a high-performance batten that incorporate 15 Watt RGBW LEDs packed tightly to give a full line of light. “High quality optics ensure a smooth, homogenized output across the batten through a broad pallet of pastel and saturated colors, complimented by GLP’s exceptional dimming which ensures that there is no color shift, just smooth even fades,” stated Neale. “DMX control offers full pixel mapping capabilities, whilst both units feature a 7:1 zoom ranging from 7 to 50 degrees, giving effects from a narrow angle light curtain to a wide-angle wash light.”

Neale continued, “The X4 Bar also features a motorized tilt, for fast refocusing or to be used to add more dynamics to the output beam. A key element is that multiple X4 Bar units can be aligned, and maintain consistent pixel spacing between adjacent units which is crucial.”

Neale also commented on the flexibility of the X4 Bar 20, “The impression X4 Bars are wonderfully flexible. We can use them as wash lights, as razor-sharp blades that cut through a certain room, or in pixel mode as a beam light. The fixture is unequaled because it is unique and it differs from the moving heads we are all used to. The X4 Bar 20 can give you a wide planar field of light that cuts the air or they can be used as simple lines of coloured ‘bulbs’ following the truss architecture,” Neale says.

Neale concluded, “These fixtures have a lot of advantages. They are bright, and we can arrange them in a single line without intervals, use the zoom and tilt movement. Finally, the X4 Bar lighting does not flicker on camera which is another critical advantage.”
