ei Productions’ Ayrton Mistrals Ready For Action

Yet again, Neale and Caroline Mace from ei Productions popped into our Sydney HQ for a coffee and chat and walked away with an empty wallet but it was all worth it as they now have even more irresistible new gear! This time it was 24 x Mistrals, Aytron’s versatile, fully equipped 300W spot luminaire.

“I should stop popping into Show Technology as they always have new, exciting and enticing gear!” he laughed. “We already own Ayrton Ghibli, Eurus and MagicBlades and we really can’t fault them. So, when we were looking for a new spot, Ayrton was a no-brainer.”

The specs for the Ayrton Mistral guarantee an extremely versatile, feature-rich, white LED source spot in an incredibly small package and a weight of less than 19 kg. An assured output of over 18,000 lumens and a new 13-lens proprietary optical system that can deliver an 8:1 zoom ratio with a zoom range of 6.7° to 53° were also attractive. Added to the fact that the optics, equipped with a 119mm frontal lens, can achieve an extremely uniform flat beam that can render images perfectly in all conditions and at any beam angle, the Mistral seemed too good to believe!

“It really is a big light in a small package,” said Neale. “A great, punchy LED fixture that we’re sure will be a workhorse here at ei. They are well known in the industry by lighting professionals and are specified on many riders.”

The Mistrals are lightweight and easy enough to be handled by one person which is a bonus for a busy production company such as ei Productions. They also have great zoom able to go wide enough to engulf a large area and then small enough to operate in limited space.

Neale was also impressed by the quality of the Mistral’s optics which ensures that gobo projection is crisp and always flat.

“They have a great gobo package,” he added. “The colours are amazing and you can achieve well-saturated colours without losing brightness. The colour wheel offers split colours for some great effects and there’s also a variable CTO.”

No sooner than arriving at ei Productions, the Mistrals were deployed to Carly Rae Jepsen’s Australian tour, pictured.
