About the Role:
As a Duty Technician specializing in lighting, you’ll play a pivotal role in the seamless execution of live performances and events across our diverse venues and function spaces. Reporting to the Technical Services Team Leader, you’ll lead a team of technicians, ensuring exemplary service delivery while embodying Riverside’s commitment to excellence and inclusivity.
This role demands solid technical expertise, leadership abilities, and the aptitude to coordinate and cooperate effectively with diverse stakeholders. While the role specialises in lighting, you are expected to possess skills across all technical aspects of theatre, including audio, vision, and staging.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate expert proficiency in lighting planning, rigging, patching and operation, maintaining superior service standards.
- Deliver briefs to staff and prepare technical reports, including amendments to production requirements, equipment, staffing, and client sign-off.
- Act as a secondary technical contact during productions, coordinating teams and facilitating smooth operations.
- Develop and deliver training programs, contributing to the professional growth of technical staff.
About You:
The ideal candidate will possess tertiary-level certification in technical theatre or a related field, coupled with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in technical theatre for live performances and events and strong attention to detail.

Essential requirements include current Construction White Card and First Aid / CPR Certification, with Rigging/Doggers certification and test & tag considered advantageous.

- Comprehensive understanding of theatre equipment, control systems, and safety protocols.
- Effective communication and problem-solving abilities, fostering positive relationships with stakeholders.
- Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate changing production requirements.
- Experience in the maintenance and management of theatre equipment and associated technical systems.
What’s on Offer:
This is a term contract position until Dec 2024, with an attractive remuneration package ranging from $73,354 to $80,782 plus 11% superannuation.
