$31.88 + per hour (plus 25 per cent casual loading)

The Drum Theatre is recruiting for a number of casuals in the position of Theatre Technician. The Drum Theatre is an exciting cultural venue for Council and presents a curated program as well as many hires and functions.

This position is primarily located within Drum Theatre as part of a suite of cultural facilities provided by the Council. The role sits within a multi-purpose environment providing theatre, function, meeting and event services. This role is part of a multi-skilled team which provides support for technical and venue operations in the Drum Theatre and, from time to time, at a range of Council’s Cultural Facilities.

The Objective Of The Position Is To

  • Provide excellent technical production and customer services for performances, functions and events at DrumTheatre.
  • Assist clients in achieving optimum satisfaction levels for their performance and the audience.
  • Ensure a safe and clean environment is provided for all Drum Theatre events.
  • Assist, including setting up and operation, with all aspects of technical production at the DrumTheatre.

Successful candidates will be proficient in the application of standard theatre operating procedures, equipment and services. They will be able to carry out duties associated with lighting and sound operations, bump in and out, rigging and associated administrative and physical tasks. In a customer-focused role, working within a team, clear and professional communication will be required.

In accordance with government or Council requirements, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate evidence of an approved COVID-19 vaccination, including booster injections or an authorised medical exemption.

The successful candidate will be asked to produce a clear Working with Children Check and will be asked to consent to a national police check (and where relevant an ‘international criminal history check’), subject to the operation of spent conviction laws.
