Named in honour of the late former Australian Prime Minister, Bob Hawke College is a state-of-the-art secondary school in Perth’s inner-city suburb of Subiaco. Opened in early 2020, the school is expected to reach a capacity of approximately 2000 once stage 2 construction is completed, taking significant pressure off the local school network.
Working with our Western Australia partner HI Lighting, Digilin was engaged to manufacture a lighting system to contour the feature façade of the school’s primary building. The Recess 50 profile fitted with high output linear was primarily used to realise the design concept. Each profile piece was cut to length and mitred before being sent to site for direct installation. As the installation site is exposed to the elements, the linear system also underwent a hard-anodizing treatment to provide added protection.
The results are truly astounding. The façade’s sharp, bright edges beautifully frame the underside of the building, illuminating the reflective cladding material around its foyer where a sculpture of Bob Hawke is proudly displayed.
Congratulations to architects Bateman and TZ Architects, and to builders PACT Construction on a great achievement.
