About the role:

Duties as Deputy Stage Manager include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Duties of stage management under the direction of the Stage Manager and the Technical Director of the Production as required.
  • Liaise with the Stage Manager, Technical Director, and members of the creative team, General Management of the Production in respect of the general operation of the Production as is custom and practice of operation of a first-class theatrical production.
  • Bump-in & bump out all Stage Management and Props elements of the Production in rehearsal and the theatre.
  • Follow-through on origination, update and modification of all relevant show plots, prompt scripts and the like of the Production.
  • Aid in the maintenance of the physical and artistic function of the Production by reporting on all issues as they present themselves.
  • Contribute to the organisation and running of the Props Department
  • Be responsible for the upkeep of all props and furniture on a daily basis.
  • Maintain an electronic maintenance log at all times.
  • Maintain electronic damage reports at all times
  • Maintain the technical standard set by the Stage Manager.
  • Swing Operation of other stage management plots.
  • Training in and operation of other crew plots as required for coverage.
  • Follow the OHS policies in place and as they are modified from time to time:
  • Be responsible for ensuring that you follow safety guidelines and OHS policies, use equipment in the recommended manner and use safety equipment as provided.
  • Report any unsafe work practice that requires attention to your HOD, the Technical Director and or Company Manager ensure that you adhere to solutions provided and implemented.
  • Participate and contribute to discussions on safety implementations as they arise.
  • Attend production and staff meetings and implement requests from these meetings as directed.
  • Other reasonable duties as advised by the Stage Manager and Technical Director.

About you:

  • You will have a minimum of 3 years experience in an DSM role or equivalent.
  • Excellent organisation & communication skills.
  • A team player, always wanting to put on the best show possible.
  • Self motivated & takes initiative.
  • Experience in working under pressure, using tact & diplomacy.
  • Ability to work with creative’s, technical personnel and performers.

Commencement date: on or around 20th of June, 2022

Salary: $1,450 p/w excl super, before tax.
