dBTechnologies VIO L1610

dBTechnologies has unveiled the new VIO L1610, a three-way active line array system equipped with neodymium components and coaxial symmetric acoustic engineering designed to deliver highly accurate transient reproduction,

The VIO L1610 incorporates dual 10-inch (2.5-inch voice coil) woofers, a 4-inch voice coil cone driver, and a 2.5-inch voice coil compression driver mounted on a proprietary waveguide. These components are powered by a Digipro G4 class-D amplifier module stated to provide 1,600 watts RMS with DSP that includes linear-phase FIR filters.

The amp comes with a modular slot for expansion cards; as a default, it’s equipped with a dBTechnologies RD-Net card to facilitate real-time remote control via Aurora Net software. If the user prefers, however, an Audinate Dante card to facilitate audio networking can be employed in the slot.

Modules are also outfitted with proprietary Near Field Communication (NFC) technology and frontal LED used to recognize each module within the Aurora Net software. Onboard controls (two rotary encoders) facilitate DSP presets for loudspeaker coupling and high-frequency compensation.

In addition, the amp’s power supply is equipped with PFC (Power Factor Corrector) technology, designed to offer added stability and consistency regardless of AC power fluctuations. PFC also provides worldwide compatibility of the power supply (from 90 to 265 volts, 50/60 Hz) and limits power consumption. The PSU is 380-volt resistant, so the final amplifiers will be switched off in case of an undesired strike of 380-volt current, saving them from any damage.

Also exclusive in the Digipro G4 amplifier is IPOS (Intelligent Power-On Sequence), a circuit that controls the sequence in which the main power supplies of all units within an array ramp up. As a result, each module is switched on in a different time frame, keeping the overall system’s inrush current low, even in large deployments. The amp allows users to run a test on electronics and transducers before, during and after use.

VIO L1610 comes with the company’s 3-point rigging system designed to foster simple, fast setup of arrays. The two front links connect the modules, while the back central rigging strand is equipped with a ring-type link for setting relative splay angles ranging from 1 to 10 degrees. Splay angles can be set directly in the dedicated transport cart (model DT-VIOL210L) that houses four modules. While lifting up the array, the rigging strand will automatically block the preset angles, with no heavy lifting required.

VIO L1610 is engineered to be compatible with the company’s entire line of VIO systems. For example, the TF-VIO2 adaptor allows rigging modules under VIO L212 arrays.

The wooden cabinet is coated with a black polyurea anti-scratch finish, while the amp module is protected by a magnetic rubber rain cover (included) that’s designed to provide weatherproofing even when mounted in steep angle in down fill applications. Cabinet weight is 69 pounds, with side and rear handles (two per side) providing easier transport and setup and strike.
