dBTechnologies and dBTech USA have announced the expansion of the VIO-X family of powered loudspeakers with the debut of the new VIO-X310 and VIO X-315 3-way active point source loudspeakers, and they’ll be featured at the upcoming InfoComm 2023 show in Orlando at the Orange County Convention Center at booth 5775 and demo room W232C.
The MF-HF coaxial component mounted in both VIO X310 and VIO X315 utilizes the same transducer that’s deployed in the VIO L1610 line array module — a 4-inch voice coil plus 2.5-inch voice coil coaxial driver reproducing from 500 Hz and up that’s designed for durability. employ a coaxial component utilizing the same transducer of the VIO L1610 line array, a 4-inch voice coil plus 2.5-inch voice coil coaxial driver.
The VIO-X310 delivers low frequencies using dual 10-inch woofers mounted on either side of the midrange-treble assembly in a dipole configuration, with the coaxial midrange and HF drivers placed behind a 90- by 40-degree rotatable horn. Meanwhile, the VIO-X315 has a single 15-inch woofer and the same coaxial midrange-treble drivers working with a 90- by 50-degree horn that is tilted slightly downward to optimize coverage in venues such as nightclubs and small to medium-sized halls and theatres.
The transducers are driven by dBTech’s fourth-generation DigiPro class-D four-channel amplifiers and DSP processing with dedicated FIR filters for the low, mid and high frequencies. Maximum SPL for both designs is stated to range as high as 137dB. They are networkable via the company’s Aurora Net RDNet ports joined by a modular card slot for future I/O and remote-control upgrades. They can be flown using optional accessories and are built to stand up to outdoor use and the punishment of touring.
“We are very excited about our coaxial midrange-tweeter assembly,” says Marco Cantalù, senior applications engineer at dBTechnologies. “It allows for very high SPL but with unprecedented clarity and intelligibility, all the way down to 500 Hz where the woofer takes over. This was simply not possible in the past — not in such a lightweight and compact cabinet. If your band, venue, church, or other application was in this challenging place where a line array was too much, but conventional column speakers were too little, we think the VIO-X300 speakers may be your ‘Goldilocks’ solution and we can’t wait for you to hear them.”
