Craig Gordon at Glasto with The Avalanches

Craig Gordon of Living Loud Productions has just returned from touring Europe with The Avalanches with the highlight being a performance at Glastonbury Festival.

The tour was a challenge with lots of cancelled flights meaning they had to do a few long unscheduled overnight drives.

“There’s also a massive lack of tour busses, equipment and crew,” said Craig. “But it feels so good to be back out touring overseas again!”

The tour started in Aarhus, Denmark before travelling to Dublin, Paris, Helsinki, Stockholm and finally, a run through the UK ending at Glastonbury. Then there was a quick visit to Portugal and Spain.

“We played Glastonbury in 2017 but we were so rushed due to delays we almost missed our set!” commented Craig. “It was very chaotic and I can hardly remember it. This year, we had a lot more time and we were able to enjoy it.”

The Avalanches played the Park Stage which had a Martin W8 PA system which is not Craig’s favourite but he says it was set up well and sounded pretty good.

“I had a package from Eighth Day Sound which had a DiGiCo SD11 with a Waves rig and I had my usual XL42 and C2 comp. As our channel list is quite small, I run monitors from FOH which are a pair of L-Acoustics 108p and sub.”

As to obstacles playing at Glastonbury, Craig says getting on and off-site is really the only hard bit.

“Glasto’s a pretty well-oiled machine, you don’t get much better than that as far as festivals go,” he added. “The set went really well! We managed a pretty decent-sized crowd and the guys smashed it. My left-right matrix went to broadcast so that was a bit scary but turned out good. A very happy Avalanches camp!”

Craig is off to the USA in September and October to do it all again and says he is so looking forward to that.
