Coordinator Theatre Communications

Temporary Part-Time (until 9 January 2024)

Band 5 $28,486 – $32,634 per annum plus 11% statutory superannuation

Join our vibrant Arts & Culture team as the Coordinator Theatre Communications at The Wedge Performing Arts Centre in a temporary part-time (0.4EFT) capacity.

Located in Sale, Victoria The Wedge is an award-winning contemporary cultural hub for performing arts and entertainment, complete with a 390- seat theatre, 50-seat black box studio, café and dining facilities, function, and rehearsal rooms. The Centre presents in excess of 150 events each year of very diverse local, professional and community programming, attendance of over 50,000 annually.

Reporting to the Performing Arts Director, the Coordinator Theatre Communications is responsible for coordinating marketing, social media and managing client relationship initiatives for The Wedge Performing Arts Centre.

We are seeking someone who is a social media marketing professional to look after The Wedge’s social media channels including Facebook and Instagram. Which means your ability to create digital content, social media posts and visual media is a key element to your success in this role.

You will also have a natural ability to build strong relationships as you will be liaising with sponsors and seeking out new opportunities to form partnerships, as well as working directly with artists and their teams to support their tour.

You will be a team player and someone who takes initiative and proactively seeks out opportunities to deliver exceptional service. In addition to this you will have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, be customer focused, professionally presented, demonstrate initiative, and would thrive working in a creative atmosphere.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate how they meet the criteria below:

  • Tertiary qualification in marketing or similar (desirable) or experience working in a performing arts venue or an arts organisation.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with patrons, clients, sponsors, and other industry stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare media releases and other marketing documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience in using various software packages including, Microsoft suits of products, publishing, e-mail campaign management, web page and customer management, and graphic design software.
  • Ability to plan workloads and determine priorities.

Please note, given the nature of the theatre industry, your availability to work on occasional weekends and evenings will be paramount.
