coolux Presents New Hardware and the Upcoming Pandoras Box 5.7 Software at Prolight + Sound

coolux, the creators of the award-winning coolux Pandoras Box product family, will present multiple new hardware products at this year’s Prolight + Sound exhibition in Hall 9, standC39, March 12 – 15 in Frankfurt, as well as the upcoming Pandoras Box 5.7 software.

The Pandoras Box Compact Player is a hardware-based media player that is both small in size and, the company says, great when it comes to reliability and power.

Whether as part of a digital signage installation inside a modern museum or even on board a cruise ship, this latest addition to the Pandoras Box product family can play a vital role in a great number of different professional playback scenarios.

The Compact Player’s playlist feature makes it really easy to play back multiple media files in a row without the need of programming separate containers on a timeline sequence.

An unlimited number of Compact Players can be centrally controlled and synchronized via network, using the Pandoras Box Manager software.

Multiscreen installations and similar setups are also possible.

The robust Compact Player was developed for professional 24/7 use and is built using server-grade hardware.

coolux Pandoras Box Compact Player tech-specs include:

– Hard drive capacity: SSD 120GB
– Maximum playback resolution: 2 x 1920 x 1080p @ 25/30 fps
– USB Ports: three USB 3.0, two USB 2.0
– Two video layers
– Unlimited graphics layers
– Interactive Web browser included
– Control via Javascript possible

Prolight + Sound visitors will be able to see a number of major new Pandoras Box software features in action for the first time.

coolux will also show additional hardware components such as the following:

The newly developed range of coolux Net Link products make it possible to convert a great number of external inputs into network data. Each Net Link unit can be equipped with up to two modules that can be freely configured.

A very important role played by Net Link products is the connection between switching relays, sensor input and output as well as the award winning coolux Widget Designer control software.

The coolux EDID Link is an EDID generator developed to be aligned with the Pandoras Box product family.

One of its major features, in addition to its robust design, is the ability to supply power via USB or DVI. Users can also select pre-programmed presets by using a rotary switch on the actual body of the EDID Link.

Up to 50 different EDIDs can be freely chosen and set, using a simple and user friendly GUI.

The coin sized coolux ID Tags make real-time tracking scenarios not only easier to set up, but also more reliable, more versatile and more cost effective. Each of the tags can be addressed with a unique ID, which opens up the possibility of up to 256 different unique IDs being tracked in real-time within a single setup.

One new Pandoras Box feature that coolux will present at this year’s Prolight + Sound is the introduction of the so called “venue sites.” The venue sites feature is part of the upcoming Pandoras Box Manager 5.7 software release. The venue sites are used for visualizing complete stage-, installation-, and show-setups in realtime, using 3D models.

Media content can be pre-programmed per output and can then be routed to different 3D models this way.

In venue sites, instead of just offering a standard 3D mapping approach for pre-visualization, users can now use a realtime compositing environment as a complete whole to simulate video projectors virtually, using a light projection rendering approach.

Media content and content compositing can be used completely independently from the visualized 3D scenes.

The company says, the ability to seamlessly switch from one Venue Site to another, makes comparing different design scenarios very easy and helps to save valuable time and costs.

Another aspect of venue sites relates to being able to test and play around with the simulations of complex media installations. This way, the user can, for example, train themself to set up a spherical projection or a softedge projection without having to use real projectors in the process.

Pandoras Box Manager 5.7 software release will include a completely re-designed text editor. Different font styles can now be used within a single text asset. An automatic horizontal and vertical scrolling capability is also part of this tool’s latest development.

When working with the new text editor, the user can even use and add an unlimited amount of text to a continuous text input.

The latest Pandoras Box audio feature development makes it possible to input ASIO sound as well as HD-SDI embedded audio, opening up a whole new world of real-time media compositing. Users can route, delay, and record ASIO inputs. Sound data can be used on ASIO tracks and programmed to the timeline, including different delays for different output signal chains.

The Pandoras Box timeline now acts as an automated audio desk, or can alternatively be triggered via external commands.
