We’ve all heard of the Day On The Green concerts that cater to those of us in the big cities – but have you heard of Tunes On The Turf?
Dunedoo’s Tunes On The Turf is an annual music event held in the grounds of the Dunedoo Sports Club. The event is held on the lush green lawns of the local golf course and attracts a wide audience of young and old ready to dance the night away.
Centrestate Sound & Lighting, based in Orange, were tasked with providing all aspects of production including a lighting rig that featured a very special new product. Little did the good folk of Dunedoo realise they were one of the first Australian audiences to witness the Claypaky Mini-B in action!
“The Mini-Bs come with their own inserts for roadcases which is great for the amount of traveling we do across rough country,” added Allan Brown, Managing Director of Centrestate.
Mini-B is the smallest LED beam light ever made by Claypaky for the professional market and it’s compact size coupled with a weight of only 7Kg makes it ideal for production companies such as Centrestate.
“We were looking to replace the zoom spots that we had in our hire inventory and the Claypaky Mini-Bs have done that and more,” commented Allan. “They are just so versatile with an excellent zoom range; they can be used on the front truss for normal front wash or you can place them on the rear truss and use the effects built into them. They do the job nicely and have an attractive price point.”
Utilising the narrow angle, the Mini-B beam produced is very solid and concentrated, superb for aerial effects. At full aperture, the Mini-B becomes an excellent wash light and it can replace much heavier and bulkier equipment.
The photos of Tunes On The Turf show Centrestate’s four Mini-Bs in action and we can’t wait to see what Centrestate can do with them once they start experimenting with the fixture’s incredible effects.
“Not only does the Mini-B produce great beams or wash light, they’re very bright and also offer more than fifty pre-installed effects/colour macros,” said Allan. “That is going to give us so much creative scope. The central LED can be controlled separately from the external ring of LEDs which looks great.”
Centrestate may own only four of these pocket dynamos but Allan is adamant that they will soon be purchasing more – is there a better endorsement than that?
