About the Job
There is an exciting opportunity with the Community and Events team for a Civic Centre Theatre Technician.
Primary purpose in this position is to:
Ensure live performances run smoothly by handling the technical side of the Department of
Community Development and Event’s shows and events. This includes setting up and operating
lighting, sound, staging, and any special effects needed for each performance. The Technician
will work closely with touring and local management and other crew members to ensure that
equipment is safe, ready, and working efficiently. The role is hands?on and fast?paced, often
involving problem?solving on the spot when things change.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide excellent technical and customer services for performances, functions and events
at the Esperance Civic Centre and community events as requested. - Assist clients to achieve optimum satisfaction levels for their performance and the
audience. - Ensure a safe and clean environment is provided for all Civic Centre events.
- Assist the Civic Centre Coordinator with all aspects of technical production at the Civic
Centre.
This is a full time position, working 38 hours per week.
About you
In order to succeed and thrive in this position, you must have:
- Certificate IV in facility operation, lighting and electronics, audio/visual, staging technician or
other relevant qualifications and/or relevant experience in the entertainment or hospitality
industry. - Ability to learn how to set up for live shows, events and conferences under the guidance of
the Civic Centre Coordinator. - Ability to work within a team and work flexible hours – including weekends and evenings.
- Demonstrated time management and organisation skills.
- Understanding of Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
- Ability to work with limited supervision and under pressure.
- Public relations, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Working with Children Card (or ability to obtain).
Salary: $76,350 per annum
Permanent staff are entitled to:
- 5 weeks annual leave per year
- The option of one Rostered Day Off (RDO) every 4 weeks in exchange for working 40 hours per week.
