Chauvet’s Vesuvio Combines Bursts of Fog with RGBA Colour

Chauvet Professional’s Vesuvio RGBA brings a new twist to fog effects – colour. This high-output unit not only blasts out fog, it’s also equipped with 28 red, green, blue, and amber LEDs that wash its bursts of haze in saturated RGBA hues for an amazing and unusual atmospheric effect.

On the fog side it produces output of 40,000 cubic feet per minute. Its proprietary pump technology generates a thick column of smoke with instantaneous spurts and cut-offs that simulate cryogenic and pyrotechnic burst effects.

Add to this a bank of 2W colour LEDs (seven red, seven green, seven blue, and seven amber) that emit a bright 720 lux at 5m – something users won’t find on the typical fog machine. Users can blend RGBA colours to illuminate the fog, creating multi-coloured columns, and bursts of smoke that it’s claimed will bring a new level of atmospheric effects to concerts and productions. For extra versatility the Vesuvio RGBA is also equipped with an electronic dimmer and a variable zero to 12.5Hz strobe.

“The Vesuvio RGBA is a real show-stopper,” said Michael Graham, product manager for Chauvet Professional. “When used with Chauvet’s QDF, quick dissipating fog fluid, you get a huge instantaneous burst, which vanishes in seconds. Its large-scale rainbow-like fog effects have a magical, surreal quality that will make your production stand out visually and transform it into something truly special and exciting. On top of that, the addition of the amber LEDs allows you to create an amazing flame effect.”

Beyond creating effects at shows, the Vesuvio RGBA was designed to address the reliability and durability needs of the production market. Its 1.6kW heater has a quick re-heat time, and it features a 2.5-liter tank for dependable extended use. Its long-running LEDs will last for up to 50,000 hours without replacement. The unit is housed in a strong, sturdy case that provides road-worthy protection against damage during transport.

For flexibility and ease of use in productions of all types, the Vesuvio RGBA features both DMX operation (nine channels) and on-board control. It is equipped with three- and five-pin XLR data input/output connectors, as well as Edison plug to Neutrik powerCON power connection.

The Vesuvio RGBA weighs 13.6kg, and measures 336 x 488 x 231mm. It works with a variety of Chauvet fog and haze fluids, but the company recommends Chauvet QDF for thick smoke columns that dissipate rapidly.
