Chauvet with The Rubens at Tanks Arts Centre

Flashbang Productions specialises in show design from concept to completion. The company believe that show design requires collaboration, premeditation and perfect execution to deliver truly spectacular live shows. Based in the Facility in Melbourne, Flashbang Productions offers services ranging from entertainment lighting and design, production services and event logistics.

Recently, Lighting Designer Tim Beeston from FlashBang Productions was contracted to light up The Rubens LO LA RU Album Tour show held at the Tanks Arts Centre on the 18th of December 2018. Tim has extensive experience as a lighting designer with clients that include Angus & Julie Stone, Amy Shark and many more.

Tim decided to use the house rig at the Tanks Arts Centre for the show featuring CHAUVET Professional Maverick MK2 wash fixtures supplied by JAM Pro Lighting, driven by a Chamsys MagicQ PC Wing, he achieved some really great effects.

Deploying the Maverick fixtures over the entire stage helped Tim create deeply saturated looks in a variety of colours that reflected the varying moods of the music. To keep the looks on stage fresh he varied colours produced by the RGBW Maverick MK2 Wash and changed coverage areas by drawing on the fixture’s wide (7?-49?) zoom range.

“The Maverick MK2 Wash is such a fantastic wash fixture,” stated Tim. “With its flawlessly even output, custom designed optics, full pixel mapping, virtual gobo wheel with background colours, pre-programmed colours and 7° – 49° zoom range, the fixture can handle any application and was great for the Ruben show.”

Powered by 12 (40 W) Osram RGBW LEDs, the fixture comes with 16-bit Dimming of master dimmer as well as individual colours for smooth control of fades. “The MK2 Wash also has a virtual colour wheel with instantaneous access to 21 colours that enabled with some quick, but great design possibilities for the show,” Tim continued. “Combine that with the built in virtual gobo wheel with background colours allowed me to have impressive atmospheric effects in combination with the fast movement of pan, tilt and zoom. I was really impressed with what the MK2 Wash was capable of and it enabled me to give The Rubens some awesome looks as they performed their hit songs.”

Thanks to the CHAUVET Professional Maverick MK2 Washes, The Rubens Tour show was a huge success providing vibrant looks, great colour and helping set the mood and atmosphere for the groups music throughout the concert in front of a sold-out audience at the Tank Arts Centre.
