As part of the Sydney Festival, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra once again delivered a stunning Symphony Under The Stars at the Crescent Parramatta Park.
Conducted by Benjamin Northey, the Orchestra performed a selection of iconic film music and well-known classical favorites by Rossini, Strauss, Tchaikovsky and more.
With regard to the current bushfire situation, this year’s event included a beautiful light show in lieu of fireworks.
Designed by Mark Hammer of Hammer Lighting, the lighting was programmed and operated by Matt Tuncheon. Chameleon Crew Chief was Davyd ‘Doc’ Williams and Lighting Systems was Jacob Toomey.
The rig included 25 x Ayrton Perseo, 30 x PROLIGHTS Panorama IP Beams, 40 x Chauvet Colordash IP Pars, 4 x Chauvet Ovation IP Profiles, 8 x ShowPRO Collider FC Strobes, 8 x Chauvet Vesuvio LED Vertical Smoke Machines, 18m x 12m ShowLED Starcloth, and 2 x MA Lighting MA2 light for control.
Setup was on Thursday 16th January when the heavens opened and torrential rain fell all through programming with all the IP lights working perfectly. More heavy rain ensued on Friday during rehearsals yet still no water faults with the lights, and on Saturday show day it rained all afternoon, cleared up for most of the show and started again during the last piece.
